CJ 212 Criminal Evidence

This course is designed to familiarize students with the laws and rules which govern the admissibility of evidence in a criminal trial. Among the topics to be covered are the background and sources of evidentiary rules, relevance and materiality, the distinction between direct and circumstantial evidence, the hearsay rule and its exceptions, character evidence, privileges, examination and competency of witnesses, the scope of direct and cross examination, impeachment, scientific and physical evidence.
