SS 132 Modern World Civilizations
This course is designed to study the development of non-European civilizations in the modern era (c.a. 1500-present). This course will focus on the origins, geographical context, major religions, culture, and interactions of world civilizations. This course will also focus on contact and encounters between European and non-European civilizations. Topics studied will include, but not be limited to, Eurasian trade and commerce, colonialism, the transatlantic slave trade, World War I, World War II, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, modern day China, and modern day Islam.
