Accreditations
Herkimer County Community College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, 215-662-5606. The Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Standards for Accreditationwere established based on four guiding principles:
- The mission-centric standards acknowledge the diversity of institutions;
- The focus of the standards is on the student learning experience;
- The standards emphasize institutional assessment and assessment of student learning; and
- The standards support innovation as an essential part of continuous institutional improvement.

The College's academic programs are registered and approved by the New York State Department of Education. Herkimer College is authorized to award the Associate in Arts degree, the Associate in Science degree, and the Associate in Applied Science degree as established by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York.
All degree and certificate programs are approved for the training of veterans and their dependents under P.L. 550 (Korean Veterans), P.L. 634 (Children of Deceased Veterans), P.L. 894 (Disabled Veterans) and P.L. 89-358 (Veterans Administration Readjustment Benefit Act of 1966).
