This course is designed for a close study of influential American women beginning in the early 1600's. While the class theme looks at women in history, other factors will include race, religion, class, etc. The class lectures and presentations will show how diverse and individualized women are, yet how similar their end goal has been: the vote, marital rights, wages, etc. The course will also examine how gender relations have influenced or how they have been influenced by major historical events.
