CJ 127 Introduction to Crime Analysis and Crime Mapping

This course is designed to explore the history of crime analysis and crime mapping in criminal justice organizations. It will cover the functions and processes of crime analysis, the methods used to identify crime patterns, develop statistical techniques used in analysis, and discuss pin mapping as well as computer mapping of crime. Laboratory exercises will be utilized to further reinforce the concepts learned in the classroom, and will afford the student the opportunity to gain the skills required to perform the various statistical analyses used in crime analysis.
