SC 153 General Chemistry I

This course is designed primarily for the student enrolled in the LAS: Science program. This course covers fundamental chemical and physical properties of matter, stoichiometry, chemical reactions, solutions, atomic structure and bonding, properties of gases, liquids and solids, molecular interactive forces, and other chemistry-related topics. The accompanying laboratory illustrates some of the principles learned in lecture and emphasizes general laboratory techniques. Recommended prerequisite: high school chemistry and elementary algebra of college equivalent. Students may not receive credit for both this course and SC 120 or SC 125.
