President's Message

Dr. Murray

Welcome to Herkimer County Community College! For more than 45 years, Herkimer has maintained a reputation of academic excellence fostered by caring faculty, innovative programs and outstanding support services. With about 3,400 students, we're small enough to be personal, yet big enough to offer many opportunities.

With more than 40 associate degree programs and three certificates, Herkimer continues to develop new academic programs to meet the changing needs of the workplace. Programs are offered in the areas of art, business, music and media, computer and technology, criminal justice and law, education, healthcare and service, and liberal arts and sciences. Eighteen degrees and three certificates, as well as support services, are available completely online through the College’s Internet Academy, making it convenient for nontraditional students to pursue degrees or enhance their skills.

Herkimer is unique among two-year colleges in that we offer a full college experience with many opportunities to get involved in campus life. With a variety of student clubs and organizations and an active student activities calendar, there are endless ways to make new friends and develop leadership skills. Our nationally ranked athletic teams and intramural clubs provide plenty of ways to show school spirit. It is easy to understand why “Herkimer Pride” is evident across campus and throughout our community.

Most importantly, Herkimer is committed to helping you reach your goals. Recently CNNMoney ranked Herkimer in the top 100 community colleges nationally for student success, based on graduation and transfer rates. More than 60 percent of our graduates continue their educations at four-year colleges and universities. We now have more than 20,000 alumni, many of whom have gone on to become very successful in their careers and other endeavors. We hope you will join them.

I look forward to seeing you on campus.

Sincerely,

Dr. Murray signature
